THE HAMILTON LEGISLATIVE ASSOCIATION.

TO THK KDirOK. Sin, — With your permission 1 would like to ask through the medium of your widely circulating journal why this useful institution has been allowed to lapse, and to say a word or two in favour of its resusciatation. That organisations of this nature are, if properly conducted, of great benefit to the community, cannot be gainsaid, for it must be admitted that questions of deep interest and importance have been frequently brought forward and discussed in these mock parliamentb which otherwise would never perhaps have been heard of. As an instance of the truth of the foregoing observations, I may mention a measure introduced in the Hamilton Legislative Association by the lion, member for Frankton, which had for its object the handing over by the Government to the local bodies the whole of waste lands adjoining the various townships of W.iikato. This measure, .after having been discussed in all its bearing w.is finally carried by a large majority. Now Sir, without wishing to in any way detract from the credit due to our woithyand energetic mayor, I am of opinion that it is to this measure he ib indebted for the idea which he his turned to so much practical use and benefit to the Burgesses of Hamilton. Many other re.isons might be adduced for the revival of our interesting association, but as most of them must be apparont to any thinking m.in, T will not trespass fuitlinr upon your valuable space, —l am, youis faithfully. A Mkmh'kh.

Messrs A. Buckland and Co. will hold a special sale of horaes, waggons, spring carts, harness, .saddlery, <fee, at Bradley and FergUHon's stable-,, To Aroha, on Saturday, the 13th in h t. Thiity horses of varions sorts will be offored.
