CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL COMMITTEES. Cambridge East.
The meeting oi the abo\e committee was held on Tuesday, the 12th mst. JPre^ent : Messrs Sargent (chairman), Hewitt and Hougnton. Two letter* were read from the Board of Education, baying that the sum of £10 4-> had been placed to the credit of the committee. A letter was ie<>d irom Mr Thos. H irtly, asking penniwon to hold evening classes in the new class-room. The applicant offered to keep the room clean. The application was granted, sub-j-ct to the consent of tlio headmaster, on ihe motion of Mr Houston, seconded ny Mr Hewitt. The chauman then Drought up the subject of hauiuabookva^c or cupboard to put the books for the hbi..ry. After some discussion it was re--ohed to gue Mr Hoaan the job ot making one, as his estimate was the lowest of the two furnished to the chairman. Th« headmaster made a requeat for a pair of -tops, to enable the chai woman to clean the windows'. The chairman was in--jtiucted to obtain a pair. It was ie&ohed to hold a coucmt in December, and the following geatlemen were appointed a • ■ommitteo to arrange particular : — Messrs Sargent, Ilutsell, Siewait and Haitly. An account of 14s 9d from Messrs J. Hougbton and Sons was passed for payment; also one from Mr Hogau for £2 15s. Che meeting then adjourned.
