__ „ The council hold its ordinary meeting on Tuesday at the chambits, Ohanpo. Present : Councillors Germarin (chairman), Ridler, (ince, Corboy, Moncueff, Toasdalu, Hunter, Laug, and Smith. • The usual preliminaries being disposed of, the engineer made hi& monthly repoit. CouuEsroNOKNCK. — Mr J. Jarrett wrote, asking for some assistance towards the diain he bad cut, on the ground that it Hi dined the county road. It was agreed not to make any >pfrant, as being a bad-prece-dent, and the council not having been consulted in the" matter. The cleVk was also directed to ascertain if the Pukekura Road Boa id had consented to have the drainage turned onto one of the district roads. —Mr White made application to have a portion pf his rates remitted, the valuation being rxcestsive and enoneous. . A reduction was allowed on the same scale as last year. — A letter was also received from the Premier's office re the Rabbit Nuisance Act, as applied to Mr Ligert wood's tar in. Rate. — Cr. C4ermann moved, and Cr. Corboy seconded, "That the rate of q of a penny in the pound be made as advertised." Carried. Hospital Meeting. — The delegate (Cr. Teasdale) reported what had transpired at I the meeting of delegates at Hamilton. It was agreed to apply to the Colonial Secretaiy to grant an inquiry into the contributions demanded from Wai pa County, by the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and that the adjoining counties and boroughs be asked lo guarantee to bear a share of the cost of such arbitration or legal pioceedings. Taupki MErAL.— The clerk was directed to write to the Public Works Minister, 1 to ask if the Taupiri quarry is to be re-opened, and if metal would be carried at a low rate 'of freight for local bodies. , Riding Accounts. — The clerk was directed to prepare for next meeting a statement of receipts and expenditure of the several ridings in the county. Tenders. — The following were received : — Contract No. 50. J. Kennedy, fascining, 19s 9d per chain ; claying, 13s 4d per chain; T. Jones, fascining, 18s pel chain ; claying, lo's per chain. Cr. Corboy moved, and Cr. Smith seconded that Kennedy's tender be accepted, the engineer to decide on what portion bhall be done. Carried. It was agreed to allow the next ordinary meeting to lapse, and to take up the business at the annual meeting.
