Armed a*> above. The steaming time was 18 days 10 hours and 45 minutes, the fastest time on record. Passengers for Auckland : — Hon. S. Lyttelton, Madame Ryan and two sisters. For Titnaru :— Jas. Ashbury, (yachtsman), Sir Robert Fowler and son, Major and Mrs George, Mrs McKenzie, Messrs S. Waterhonse, A. Mclnto^h, Sherwood, and 1G steerage. In transit for Sydney, 35 saloon and 32 steerage. The Mararoa leaves to-morrow ac 2 a.m. The The Hawea leaves at 10 a.m. to-morrow morning with the South 'Frisco Mails, and the Arawata on Sunday with the Fiji portion.

Forgery. John Livesey, a young man who was recently carrying on business as commission agent in Auckland, was charged at the Police Court to-day, before the Resident Magistrate, with foigery of cheques on the Bank of New Zealand, amounting in the aggregate to about £(>">o, with intent to defraud one Frank William Foley. The charge of toigmg a cheque for £200 on July 13 was taken ft r^t. After hearing the e\idence, the prisoner was committed for trial
Stark Enquiry. To-day Mr A*hton produced Mr Stark\ instructions to soil the property, house, improvements, an i twenty acres foi £f>ooo. Mr K. J. Roberts also deposed that :n March, 1884, the house and ten acres had been offered through Mr Allison for £3300.
The Training College. At tho Board of Education the Rev. Mr Gulliver was elected puncipal of tho Training College.
