Mb Alkked Buckland's Weekly Report.—At the Hay market on Friday, September 24, loose hay was in usual supply; prices ranged from 2a (id to 4s 3d tho cwt. Giain was plentiful, and prices firm ; oats from 2s Gd to 3a 3d the bushel, maize 3s 3d, carrots 46s and 50a. Hobart potatoes £(> the ton, bonedust £7 5s to £8 sa, potato manure £6 to £8 10*, superphosphate £8 10s the ton. Horse stuck were yarded in less than usual number. For all animals of a useful class prices were firm, and a draft of fresh young 1 horses would sell satisfactorily. On Tuesday loose fodder was in full supply, and sold freely at Friday's values, the unreserved sale of the surplus stock belonging to the circus occasioned a numerous attendance. The horses were young, of medium size, and pood workers, but in very low condition. Pi ices ranged from £11 15s to £5 ; waggons, £12 10s and £15 : omnibus, £10 10s ; and buggy £9. A fc the wool, hide and skin 6ale on Tuesday, longwool in grease brought GJjd the lb ; sheepskins in full supply were briskly competed for, and brought from 2s to 4a 3d each ; tallow, 12s to 14s 6d the cwr. Hides were also pitched in full numbers, and clean sound hides brought 3§d and 3fd the lb, inferior from 2^d the lband upwards. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cattle at calving were at low values ; those a few weeks from it were better worth. Store cattle of all classes plentiful, and in steady demand at late values. Fat cattle in full numbers were better worth than last vreek about 2s the lOOlbs. Prices were steady, between 18s and 20a the lOOlbs. Fat calves plentiful, and brought fully late values. Arrivals of fat sheep from the coast during the past week have been unusually numerous, exceeding 3000. Prices have consequently fallen 2s to 3s each from last week's values. Fat lambs were at higher values. There is an increased demand for them. Pigs of all classes were in better demand than for several weeks, and a pen of fowls brought 2s Id each.
Messrs Hunter and Nolan s Weekly Report.— Horses : There has been an improved demand during the past week, and a slightly upward tendency in value for those of a good stamp in all classes. An average number were submitted by aaction at the Durham Yards on Friday, competition at the commencement of the sale was very brisk, and expectations of rendors were exceeded in many instances, but at the latter part of the sale bidding was slow, but on the whole there was a successful auction. We quote : Hacks f com £5 10s to 614, light harness horses from £9 to £14 10s, draught £18 to £35. Wool, hides, skins and tallow : Limited supply, and steady demand, the hides pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday were generally of inferior description. We quote : Hides at from 2d to 3fd per lb, skins 2s Id to -is each, tallow £13 per ton. Cattle : There has been considerable animation in the market, and an increased supply of dairy and store stock found purchasers at fully the previous week's valuer The number yarded on Tuesday at the Newmarket yards was less than on the previous week, but there was an active demand. An advance of from 10s to 20s per head was given for fat beasts. Steers ranged from £6 to £9 2s Gd, cows from £4 to £G 2a Gd, or from 17s to 22s per lOOlbs. Dairy and store stock without noteworthy alteration. Sheep were plentiful at Newmarket on Tuesday, and the demand was not so good as on- the previous week. Prices declined fully Is per head, wethers selling at from 14s 9d to 16s Gd, ewes at from 12s to 14s Gd. Store sheep wore of inferier quility, but in brisk demand. Piga : Few yarded, but there was no marked advance in value.
