London, September 24. The Morning Post says that it is tho opinion of diplomatists in Paris f ,hnt tho Irench Government have resolved to .annex the New Hebridon, and that the question will be definitely decided at the next meeting of Cabinet. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Stanhope, Secretary of State for the Colo nies, in reply to a question, reiterated the hopo expressed by him a few days ago that a peaceful settlement of tho New Hebrides question would shortly be arrived at. Pahis, September 24. The Republique Franchise to-day, in a loading article, urgns that Franco cannot honourably evacuate the New Hebrides after the tricolor has been hoisted there. The following gentlemen have been added to tho Jubilee Commisfiioners : Duke of Manchester, Karl of Carnarvon, Sir Frederick Loiphton, Sir John Gilbert, Sir P. C. Owen, Sir Joseph Hookey, Sir Henry Thring, Sir J, D. Lin ton, Major-Genera! Freeinantlo, Colonel Donnelly, and Mr Robert Owen. Tho Earl of Kiniberley has declined appointment to Commission, which was telegraphed on 22nd. Mr Baden Powell suggests that an Organising Committee should bo appointed to prepare a charter for the supgested Imperial Institute. Tho oranges by the John Elder, from Sydney, have arrived in poor condition, and have been sold at a loss. The freedom of the city of Limerick has been conferred on Mr Gladstone. An official statement has been published that Yemethen is now the only disturbed district of Burmah, and the country generally has been gieatly pacified by the recent death of Myontzein, the Prince pretender to the ruler.ship of what was formerly independent Burmah.
