THE HOSPITALS AND CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS ACT. The Position of the Waikato.
Mr E. Lake, M.H.R., has sent the following telegram to the Premier .—. — The Hon. Sir Rout. Stout, Wellington. Section seven of Amended Hospital and Charitable Aid Act, fixes the elections in November next, but the districts mentioned in .section thirty do not come into existence till April. They must therefore, I Huppose, elect in Movember, to their old districts, and in April the Governor will appoint members for the new districts under subsection two of section seven of the original Act, as in a case of failure to elect, but will that appointment be held to satisfy condition of apportionment of representation, or should not the Governor in November apportion the representation, not only of existing districts, but of the future districts which will come into existence in April ? Thero seems to be no section under which representation can be apportioned other than in November. Vj. Lake.
