A PECULIAR ACCIDENT.

Edward Penn,,,o£ .1, ,Shambrook-cot-tages, Alma-road, . Enfield-wash, bootmaker, was charged, at Enfield recently with causing the death of his son Edward, aged five years, by throwing a cherry-stone down his throat., It appeared that on the day in questiou the prisoner purchased a pennyworth of cherries, and gave them to the children to eat., After they had eaten, them the deceased collected the stones and began to play with them. The father then threw some into the boy's breast. At this the deceased was pleased, and asked his father to throw some down his neck, at the same time opening his shirt for the purpose. The father threw several down his neck, which made the boy laugh heartily. Another stone, instead of going down the boy's neck, went into his mouth, and was drawn into his throat. The mother put her fingers down the boy's throat for the purpose of extracting the, stone, as did the prisoner, but without effect. The deceased turned black in the face and expired. The coroner's jury. returned a verdict of " Accidental death." Mr Form was discharged. ,
