Melhournk, September fl. The Premier, Mr Gillies is at present in communication with the chairman of the Standing Committee of the Federal Council, with a view to united action being taken by the colonies in regard to New Hebrides, also to adopt the necessary measures for the' protection of the colonies from an influx of Recidivistes. In the Legislative Assembly last night Mr Mclntyre gave notice of a question on the subject of the cable routes from Penang to Madras, still interrupted.
