EARTHQUAKE IN THE SOUTH. [BY TELEGRAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Chhirtohuroh, Friday. An earthquake was felt at Lyttelton, and other places in North Canterbury, hut there aro no reports of iti having beun experienced in South Canterbury. At Rangiora it was described as rathor smart, while at |VVaiau, it is said to have been very •ovore, and lasted quite a, minute. Re i>orta as to its direction are, as usual, conflicting.
Gueymouth, Friday. Voiy sharp earthquuko shock* were felt hero at two minutes after twelve, and lasted over a quarter of a minute.
Wellington, Friday. The earthquake to-day was felt pretty generally throughout the Wellington prov ince.
Kaikouba, Friday. Two earthquakes wore felt hern in tho middle of tho day.
