TrMARU, Weduerdaj. Thk Hall enquiry wa.s resumed this morninjr at 10.30. The hearing of the forgery charge* against Hall were set down for to-day, but at the request of Mr White, a remand for seven days was granted. Evidence was given by a labourer in the employment «>f Hall, who had charge of the house during the repairs effected. The garett contained a quantity of rags, enough to fill a bucket, but not so much as shown to have been there when th« police | .searched it. Kerosene was used in lighting, but had always been kept in the house. Mr (Junn, chemist, deposed to Hall buying antimony from him on June 18th, when he said it was to make cigarettes for asthma. Hebought two drachms of antimony on Jun« 2<>th, and colchicnm wine on July .">th, July 17th, July 31st and August 4th, on each occasion two ounces. Mr Eichbaum and another chemist hold Hall half-an-ounceof antimony and some stramanium seeds on August 4th, and some antimonial wine on June 12th, and colchicum wine on July fith. W. Salter, chemist's apprentice, sold colchium wine on July 2Gth and August 7th, 2ozs. each time. Evidence wa« then taken as to the promissory notes alleged to have been forged by Hall, and put in the bank's hands as sscurity. Mr Milton said the signature was not his, and Mr Stedman, manager of the Bank of New South Wale*, said Hall gas c them to him as security for an overdraft of £700 or JL'SOO. Mr D.ividson, loc.il agent of the Australian Mutual Pro\ident Insurance Compiny. deposed that Hall insured his wife's life for £0000 in two policies, one for life, and one for .seven years, in August lust year. On August 12th he said ho would not renew the latter policy. This was all the evidence up to one o'clock, when the court adjourned.
