The Government are making enquiries as to the best means of eradicating the rabbit and small bird post*. It i* stated that the Hon. C.ipfc. K»>nnv, M.L.C., will accept the position of commissioner to enquire into the claims of old .soldiers, and tint the fii*t meeting of the commission will be held at Wanganui on the Kith inst. The Mayor of Wellington will be pre-ent at the Avistialian Centenary Municipal meeting. Arrived : Steamer Rimutaka, from Auckland. She stays here a fortnight, during which tune her machinery will be overhauled. An examination of the accounts of the Fore^ers shows that by the departure to Kimberley of one of its officers they have not suffered.
