Old playgoers (says the Argus) will regret to lean: that Mr William Hoskins, the veteran actor, is so seriously ill as to occasion great uneasiness to the numerous friends in and out of the profession of which he has been such a distinguished ornament. He has been confined to his bed for the last seven weeks, and but little expectation is entertained that he will ever be able to rise from it again. His connection with the English stage dates back for something like half a century, and when he came out of Australia 30 years ago he was very nearly bringing his pupil, Mr Henry Irving, with Inn; ; and it was only, as Mr Austin Biereton tells us in his *• biographical sketch" of the latter, the reluctance of Mrs Irving to pirt with her sou that prevented his accompanying his instructor, to whose lessons the actormanager haa llways expressed himself as much indebted for his professional success. A notice concerning Thomas Hradey appear* in onr adveitisintf columns. On Saturday ne\t Air John Knov will offer foi sale at his mart a choice selection of drapeiv, men's and boys' clothing, an " Uncle Sam" cooking range, produce, etc.
