New South Wales v. Waikato.
The match has been fixed for next Wednesday, the 25th in.st. Owing to their other arrangements, the Js'ew Smith Welshmen are unable to play on Wednesday, Ist September, as first proposed. They arrive in Auckland ne\t Tuesday, and will no doubt be a little stiff. To take off their stiffness they are coming to Waikato next day to havo a little practice with the Waikato team. The Waikato representatives will no doubt uphold the honour of their district. The Hamilton, Cambridge, and Huntly Clubs are the. only ones that havo ho far taken any interest in the match. To-day Messrs T. (i. Sandes and X. Hunt will have the invidious taste of choosing our reprc.ientath c team. They wish it to be distinctly nndci stood that in choosing the te.un tliey will not recognise any club, but will judge individuals by their merits. The New South Wales team are described as a very light-weight team, but play a very fast game. Their colours are ciimnon. Waikato, we believe, generally play in crimson and white, but on this occasion the team will be allowed to wear any colours they like with the exception of crimson, which must not on any account be shown on the field. Mr A. H. Cotter, the Auckland inn pi re, and Mr R. L. Skeen, the lion, nee. to the Auckland Rugby Union, will accompany the New South Waifs te.im. Mr C, Hudson, District Traffic Manager, has treated the management committee in the most liber.il manner. Everyone in Waikato will be able to come by rail to Hamilton, aeo the in.itch, and return by rail in the evening. Wednesday being the Hamilton market day, Saturday return tickets will be iisued. Mr Hudson has promised to send throe special trains in the evening from Hamilton, ono to Te Awamutu, one to Te Aroha, and ono to Huntly. The Hamilton, Cambridge, and Huntly Football Clubs each contribute towards paying the expenses of the visitor*. Those contributions not being sufficient, an entrance charge of one shilling will be made on the day of tho match to the football ground at Sydney Squ.irp, Hamilton E.ist, The selection committee wish it to be distinctly undoi stood that, although they have named 18 men as probables, this does not preclude their making any alterations they think tit in the team, and taking in any other players who may in their opinion be qualified to play.
