FOOTBALL
The Auckland- Wellington "Imbuogmo." Thr umpiring question at the late interprovincial match came up at ;i meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union on Thursday night. After reading telegrams which had passed between the secretaries of the Auckland and Wellington Unions, a resolution was carried unanimously, demanding an apology from the Wellington Rugby Union for the statements which had been given to the Wellington Prc«> on Monday last, and that the same Union should also obtain an apology from the Poneke Football Club for their action in hanging the Auckland umpire in effigy. There was very little discussion indeed over tho question, but there was a very deep feeling of antipathy against the Union's late guest*. It transpired that the Wellington team, at the dinner given to them at Napfcr, proposed the health of the Rugby Unions of New Zealand, coupling with them Sydney, but omitting Auckland from the list. — Herald.
