HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Thk adjourned meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was liold last night in the Borough Council Chambers. Present : His Worship the Mayor, Cr*. Jones, 8011, Scott, Tip|>en and Edgecumbe. A letter was received from the Hamilton Domain Hoard lequesting a loan of £1000, and offering the usual bank interest of D per cent.— On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr. Jones the application was granted.— The Mayor also informed the meeting of the arrival of the debenture forms, and that they had been handed to the Post-office authoiities dulybigned, and that the £0000 had been paid over, £4000 of which had been placed at fixed deposit for | 12 months, m .sums of £500 each, and th.it the interest accruing from this would go a long way to p<iy for the whole loan. WoiiKS CoMMirrKE.— Moved by the Mayor, "That all the councillors be appointed on the streets improvement committee, the councillors for the Ea«t side of the borough and the councillors for the West side acting for their respective sides, and that any two members of tiie council be authorised, together with the Mayor, to sign any document requiring signature on behalf of the council. Seconded by Cr. Tippen and carried. Tknoers. — The following tenders were received for filling up pot holes in Albert«trt»et :— J. Annett (accepted), £2 s* ; F. Crawford, £3 5s ; S. G. Coombes, £3 ; J. Coombes, £3; J. Winter, £4 3s (id. A letter was read from Mr Hay, pointing out that on some occasions matters had been referred to him for his opinion, and he would like his position defined. — Resolved that the letter be received. This concluded the business of the council.
