! » London, August 13. It is reported th»t the White Star lineoffer to establish a twenty-six and a-half days' service to Adelaide. August 14. Sir Charle* Tupper proceeds to Canada to advocate a^ permanent exhibition being established the^e. Sir Cunlitfe Owen is confident the Kcnteme will be a success. Shaw bitterly complains of Major Wardell's attempt to secure a team for a colonial tour, and suggested that Lord Harris and Messrs W. G. Grace and Walter should arbitrate on the question at issue, but Major Wardell has declined. Shaw has secured Barlow and Maurice Read to accompany his team. — A Reuters message says : The committee of the Melbourne Cricket Club have decided to abandon the idea of importing' a team in opposition to that which Lillywhite brings to the colonies next season. J. * Mr Stanhope, Secretary for the Colonies, has issued an official notification that he will receive at the Colonial Ottiae on each Tuesday during the remainder of the month any colonial visitors who may desire an interview with him. Sir Charles Tupper, High Commissioner of Canada, is proceeding to Ottawa to confer with the Dominion Government concorning the proposed permanent Colonial Exhibition in London, and the part Canada, ihould take in connection theiewith.
