ROTORUA NOTES. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Rotorua, August 9.
I viMTKn Rotomahana geysers on Fiiday last, %id found that they were far less active than on any of my former visits, leading one to believe that they are faat becoming extinct. The only active gev*er >s the large steam hole looking: X.K. from Hapi-o-Torau. This was sending up mud and black him ike to a height of from twenty to a hundred feet. The country since my last visit, about a week apo, is ftmch more easy of access for travellers, but I fear that the rain which has been almost incessant since Saturday morning will again soften the u.ud and cause many slips to take place.
