11 WEN T Y REASONS. Why every Watch Buyer should Patronise
STEWART DAWSON & CO.
1. Because— ever moving in the van of progress as we do, and being fully alive to the great necessity of the age we live in — 10 years ago we abolished the old slow, roundabout system of trading by a series of infinite gradations, thus solving the great commercial problem of how to attain the maximum of efficiency at the minimum of cost to the user. We brought the manufacturer and the public together, thus entirely dispensing with middlemen and completely annihilating the exorbitant profits of the importer and retail dealer. 2. Because we are the only Watch Manufacturers in the Australian Colonies dealing direct with the public, and where a retail dealer sells one watch, we possibly sell 500 —hence the difference in price to all who patronise us. 3. Because in the construction and mechanism of all our Watches we constantly aim.it the „ attainment of Excellence," Efficiency, and Durability, together with High Finish and Perfect Timekeeping, knowing that entiro satisfaction to every customer brings us increased trade through every Watch we sell. 4. Because being manufacturers supplying our own productions to the public we are thoroughly conversant with every detail in their construction, and can thereby guarantee a certainty of their performance, a feature entirely out of the province of the ordinary retailer. 5. Because our watches being all tnade in our own Factory by the moBt skilled workmen, on the most improved scientific system, u uniformity and fitn«s« of purppse is obtained, forming the basis on which their merits have so vastly accumulated during the severest test of time. 0. Because we retain, all the best elements of the lever escapement as invented by Massey in Liverpool 80 years ago;, and have added to the same many valuable improvements, bringing the 'English Lever Watch up to the highest state of perfection. 7. Because the whole movement is turned out of the solid — including frames, places pinions, palets, and escapements — all being gauged and fitted by scientific machinery, ensuring perfection of exactitude in every detail. 8. Because the escapement is adjusted to the perfection of performance and jewelled in hard setting, and. although it beats no less than l(),200 times each hour, its deadbeat action will bo as perfect in 50 years' time as when first turned out. i 9. Becui^e the hair oprjnga are hardened and tempeied to tho bighoat degree of elasticity, contributing a uniform' rate of motion indispensable to perfect time keeping. 10. Because all our watches have maintaining power and stop-work. The former cohipells the Watch to go while being wound, and the latter makes overwinding an impossibility. The hands may also be turned backwards and forwards at option. 11. Because the dials are made of the very be9t hard white enamel, with artistically printed chapters and sunk recess for second hands and fitted on to solid, hollowback frames. 12. Because every Watch is fitted with patent safety hair spring and stud fastener, which entirely prevents displacement in riding, jumping &c. 13. Because the cases arc very strong' sterling silver or IS carat gold, Har marked, and are du->t and damp proof, splendidly finished, aud warranted to stand constant wear an oidinary lifetime. 14. 'Because, unlike Watches of Foreign make, which are usually left with the unseen patts of the movements rough and unfinished, every part of our English Watch is policed to the highest degree, after which it is treble gilt and frosted by steam power. This superior finish ensures the greatest durability. 15. Because all our Watches are made with interchangeable parts, aud, in case of accident, any part can be replaced at the least possible cost. lfi. Because we guarantee the peiform ance of every Watch for a period of from three to five years, and sell each on the condition that the purchaser has a week's fre« trial, enabling all to verify their matchless value and quality. 17. Because our system of manufacture issues in the production of a Watch that stands the roughest wear, and enjoys it ; gives its owner less trouble and more comfort ; will go more years and cost less in repaii.s than any other Watch known. 18. Because we supply every grade — keywindmg or keyless (ladies and gents') including full and tluee quarter plate Levers, centre secondsJChronograph Le\ers, Double Chronographs, Half Chronometers, Railway Watches, &c, at about half usual retail price, all stated in our magnificent Illustrated Watch Pamphlet, and the inexperienced, can buy from Stowart Dawson lind Co. with the same security as the most matured critic. 1!). Because in proof of Value and quality our Watches are known and celebrated by wearers wherever the English language is spoken. The sale from our head establishment, Liverpool, England, extends to every part of the United Kingdom and all parts of the world ; while the patronage extended to our several Colonial branches obtains proportion* that uxceed the totals of all other Whtches sold throughout the whole of Australasia put together. 20. Because the medley of discordant cries evoked by Watch Dealers on all sides against us are the best evidences of the reforms we have effected — every ,reform affects more or less the persons who have profited by the system of business sought to be reformed. Human nature will out ; but we remain perfectly tranquil at the attempts made through jealousy tv deprecate our Watches and our system of business, and the feeble efforts of others who try to emulate us. These are but the natural outcome of disappointment at their attenuated trade. Note.— Every intending Watch Buyer should write for a copy of our magnificent new ILLUSTRATED WATCH. PAMPHLET, containing splendid Engravings bf each kind, drawn from the actual Watches ; also contains a concise history of the English Lever, its invention and developement ; and hundreds of wonderful Testimonials, British and Colonial. A copy will be sent for Threepence in stamps (cost of postage only) from STEWART DAWSON & CO., 195, (JUEEN-STREET, AUCKLAND. Faci-okt: Liverpool, Ekcslakd.
