AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS.

Mr Alfred Buckland's Weekly Report.—At the Hay market on Friday, July 23rd, horse stock were at usual values. A pair of superior draught geldings brought £65, and choice active medium draught up to £15 15s. A buggy, £10 10s. Horse feed of all kinds was sold in large quantity. Loose fodder, delivered, from 2s Od to 3s 6d, pressed hay from 4s to 5s 6d the cwt ; carrots, 40s the ton ; damaged oats Js 7d to Is 9d ; good oats, 2s lid ; maize, 2s lOd to 3s ; barley, Is Ocl the bushel ; bonedust, £7 os the ton. At the hide and skin' sale on Tuesday, hides were pitched in limited number and generally middling quality, prices easier. Tallow brought 13s and 12s the cwt., sheepskins and pelts from 3d to 2s 4d each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle of fair quality were numerous. There was a steady enquiry for them, at prices varying from £4 10b to £8 ss. Fat cattle w ere in moderate number, V>o head yarded. At the opening of the sale bidding was brisk, and the prices obtained were near 20s the lOOlbs, but the demand fell as the sale proceeded, and good quality steers at end of sale were at 15s. Calves were in short supply, and brought extieme values. Fat sheep were yarded plentifully. Prices at first were low, but rallied as the sale proceeded, and on the whole last market's values were not sustained. A few well-grown fat lambs sold well, and brought from 12s to 20s each. Pigs of all classes were numerous, fairly bred quiet pigs were in demand at late prices, but coarse, wild pigs scarcely paid for sending to the market. Some averages obtained were : 5 oxen, Waikato Land Association, £10 XX ; 30 steers, £7 4s ; 24 steeis, H. Knox, £6 Is ; 14 steers, Auckland Agricultural Company, £"> 12s o'd ; 8 steers, W. Wool, hides, and skins : Not so many hides were pitched as on the previous week, and there w as no alteration in values. Skins reached 2s lOd each ; wool sold at from s?d to (>Jd; tallow, 11s (id to 14s. Cattle: Theie has been consideiable animation in the demand for fat and dairy stock. There was an advance in fat beasts of fully 20s per head. The Newmarket yards were well supplied with dairy cows ■which sold freely, and a better class would have found purchasers. Stoics were poorly represented. An average ma-iket of fat blasts. Medium weigßts weie yarded, and a laigor number would have found purchasers at fully £1 per head advance on the previous week's rates. Steeis ranged at from £5 5s to £7 15s ; cows, from £4 to £4 10s. Sheep were in adequate numbers. Top sorts maintained the previous week's values. The Newmarket ya^is were adequately supplied. There tvfts a brisk demand. Indifferent quality maintained the previous week's values, but well fatted wethers in a few instances declined slightly in valur. Wethers sold at from lls (id to 10s 3d ; ewes, 8s Od to 13s 6d. Pigs in limited number. MESSRS G. ,W. BINNEY AND SONS* REpoitr.—At our sales of hides, skins, and tallow, on Tnesdav last, we offered a very large catalogue. The prices realised being very satisfactory. Heavy ox hides sold up •to 4id per 1b ; medium weights, 3d to 3Ad ; light, 3d ; cow hides, 3d per lb for good ; damaged, dull of sale at about 2d. We .quote local butchers' heavy ox at 23s to 25s each. Sheep»kins sold under very brisk competition.
