Mkssus W. .1. Hia tkr and Co. report :— At Cambridge mi Saturday, July 21th, there was a good number of cattle of all classes yarded. Only a limited number of beef leqnired, which bold at fair prices. Youngs cattle sold at fully Ohaupo prices. At the .sale of Napier ewes, l."> 00 tound purchasers out of 2400 yarded. The (500 fat sheep from same place were withdrawn at auction, but sold afterwards privately. We quote: Steer calses and yearlings, 16s to 33s ; fat heifers, t'4 7s (id and £4 10s ; fat cow.s, £1 to t'4 17s (id; Napier ewes in lamb, (is lid and 7s each. At the sale of hoiscs, a good number were, cntcied, and there was :i largo attendance, a largo number of pigs, also lot of oat*, carrots, &c., being disposed of at good prices. For horse stock there was very little demand, unless for acti\e plough horses and good hacks. We quote : Oat>, 3» Id per bushel ; carrots, £2 2s pei ton ; young pigs, .">>, to 11s C»d ; fat pigs, 2ls each; hacks, £(> to £9; light harness and plough hoises, -tS to £14 10s. Vt ( Hiaupo on Tuesday, August 27th, there was again a good muster of both fat and .store cattle, and a \eiy laige one of Uauy cows, between 70 and SO yarded, and with feu exceptions all .sold, btiugof a good class. The Napiei owes lield over from C.unbndge weie all disposed of privately, excepting 10 sold at auction. The young cattle were mostly of low condition, and dull of sale. Steers of all classes were lower fully 10.s per head than previous sale. Several pens of very choice steers from Golborne estate reflected great ciedit on the breedor. For these there was spirited competition, and sold fairly well, considering the low price of beef ruling in the Auckland market. Fat cattle were yarded in excess of requirements ; all of good quality sold. "We quote : Dairy cows at calving or calved, £5 10s to £6 15s ; cows, to calve September and October, £3 10s to £5 5s ; steer calves (low condition), 12s to 255 ; I^-yr-old and 2-yr-old steers, £2 2s to £3 ; 2.V and 3-yr-old steers, £3 (Jd to £3 17s Gd ; 3-yr-old steers in fresh condition, £4 16s to £5 ss ; store cows, £1 10s to £2 12s ; fat cows and heifers, £3 10s to £5 ; Napier ewes, 5s 9d, 6s, and 6s 6d ; fat ewes, 7s 6d. We have also disposed of privately through the week : Waggonette and harness, £25 ; strong buggy horse. £14 ; 123 3 and 4-yr-old steers, £5 2s 6d each ; 40 acres turnips, £80 the lot.
