CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.

An ordinary meeting of the Cambridge Domain Board was held at tho board's office on Saturday afternoon. Present :— Messrs T. Wells (chairman), E. Hewitt, J. Fisher and E. B. Walker. Mr T. F. Cheeseman, secretary to the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, wrote in answer to the board's application for fish. At present the society had nothing suitable for distribution, but in about a month they would have a quantity of brown trout ova available for distribution, and possibly some ova of American brook trout. If the board liked to make the necessary preparations for hatching the ova, the society would supply a parcel of at least 1000, and in a pamphlet enclosed in the letter, full instructions would be found. If the board did not like to take the trouble of hatching the ova the society would be able to supply trout towards the commencement of the summer, but as the hatching and subsequent feeding involved considerable expense, the society would have to make a slight charge, whereas the ova would be supplied free. American catfish, which would be very suitable for the lake, would be available about September, if the board cared to have them. — It was resolved to reply that the board would be glad to have a quantity of catfish sent them when they were ready. — Mr Walker thought they should also go in for some brown trout. A list of trees for disposal by the Auckland Domain Board was received.— lt was decided that the chairman be authorised to obtain a supply of shrubs to plant in the " retreat," and under the engine-house, at n cost not exceeding £2 10s. — Tho Board thanked Mr Walker for his offer of black wattle trees Mr Gerald O'Halloran's request for the transfer of Section 20 of Domain Lands to William Fogarty was granted, Mr Fogarty to pay all rents to date. A letter was received from Walter Murphy, town ranger, demanding the sum of £3 10s for impounding a number of cattle trespassing on domain property, and Mr R. W. Dyer, solicitor, also wrote on Mr Murphy's behalf on the same subject. It was resolved that as Murphy had admitted having received £7, the property of the board, the board decline to pay him £3 10s until the £7 is restored to its lawful owners. It w.is further resolved on the motion of Mr Fisher, seconded by Mr Wells, that the Town Board be requested to take action immediately for the recovery of the trespass money received by the poundkeeper, and have the same paid into the Domain Board not later than Tuesda}', August 3rd. The Chairman informed the board that T. Brown, caretaker, was getting on well with his work. He considered also that Brown was fairly entitled to some consideration .in excess of the contract price. The chairman's action in granting 50 pipes to Mr J. R. S. Richardson was endorsed. The Chairman said it would be a good thing to get some white swans for the lako. — Mr Walker said they could get any amount from Rangiriri. — The Chairman : Will they stay if we get them.— Mr Walker ; They will if you cut their wings. — It was dpcided that the chairman should write to Rangiriri and obtain one or more pairs of white swans for the lake. 'The following accounts were passed for payment:— T. Brown, £12 3s; J. P. Thomson, £10 lla lid ; Wells and Soutter, £G lls SU. This was all the business.
