FOOTBALL.
The return match between Hamilton East and West came off on Saturday last, and resulted in a win for the West side by two points, a try, to nil. The play throughout wa« ve.ry fast, remarkable for the absence of packed scrums, and particularly, as always in this match, for the Absence of anything like squabbling. If Hamilton men would only play as thoroughly in earnest in foreign matches as they do in this jeu de luxe they would be very hard to beat. Wood put out a thumb in the first term, but the West very kindly allowed a substitute. Another East man was also practically disabled at the end of the first terra. In the second, Salmon, by fine backing up secured a try near the corner post, but a magnificent place kick by Odium fell just short of the goal. Hinton's following up was splendid; Quin and Reid, R. McKenzie and Yon Stunner were all there. On the Weat, Odium, Mclntyre and McSweeney played grandly towards the front, which Guird was a power behind.
