Wellington, Friday. The Hinemoa has gone to Opunake to bring to Wellington Te Whiti, Titokowhftru and other persons committed for trial. At the Supreme Court in the ca*e of Hellihter v. Accident Insurance Company of New Zealajid the Actorney-General for the company "argued that the amount of tin* policy could not be recovered as the iiotict* of the accident which caused the death of Hellwter had not been given within st»vi>n days, as required by the policy. Justice Richmond asked whether buch a condition would stand in a case where a person disappeared and it was not known for some time afterwards that he was dead. The At-torney-General said that that appeared t'> be His Honour's opinion, that tiie puMic were awtire of that state of things, ho did not think the company's insuring agaiiift accidents would do much business. Hi.s Honour entered up judgment for the defendants. A deputation from the Wellington Hotel and Property Protection Society waited on MesHi'd Johnston and Co., agents for the Union Insurance Company, today, with reference to services of Mr Mcßae in connection with the recent eruption at Wairo.i. Mr Johnston received the deputation very courteously, and promised to do all he could to favourably represent Mr Mcßae's case to the board of directors.
