ROTORUA NOTES. Effects of the Earthquakes at Tikitapu.
j^BT TKLEGRArH— OWN CORRKSFONDKNT.J Rotobua, Monday. I havk just returned from Tikitapu by the old Wairoa road. The late heavy rain has cut channels in the road fully five feet deep. A huge rift, fully one hundred yard* in extext, crosses the road, nnd in the middle of it is a chasm about sixty feet across, and standing within five feet of tha brink, no bottom could be seen. The ground is f racked Around, and it seems treacherous. Several severe earthquake shocks occurred this afternoon.
