HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the board was held at the council chambers last night. Present : .Mews W. A. Graham (chairman), Barton, Scott, Tippen, Dey, and Edgecumbe. Conm^roxiiKXCE.— A letter was received from Mr .Northcioft, re drain thtough Lot 7, domain lands, informing the hoaid that he had opened a drain, and stating that if the board would supply pipe* lie would have them put m position. He thought some general scheme of drainage should bt* considered with respect to the surrounding hinds. A committee, consisting of Mes-ic Scott, Edgecumbe and Tippen was appointed to draw up a report on this matter, to bo considered at ne\t meeting. — Mr T. (t. Sandes wrote, offering his services is engineer and surveyor to the board at 27s (>J per day, al labom to be paid for in addition. A committee consisting of the ehanman and Messrs Barton and Tippen was deputed to wait on Mr Sandes with a view to making some arrangement with that gentleman. — Mr Cassidy wrote in reference to the burning of his fence, which he alleged had been caused by the contractors for clearing the domain lands. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr CasMdy and inform hiiii that he must proceed against the contiactors. — An application w is received from Mr C. Carthy, that the board would put up for lease, by auction, Lots '241 and 245 Hamilton East, for a term of 21 year*. The Chan man moved that the term for which the recently acquired domain lands be leased should not exceed 1 I year . This was seconded by Mr Edgecumbe, and curied unanimously. — It was then resolved that Mr Carthy'-. application be granted, and the lots be put up to auction, subject to the usual conditions, for a term of 14 year-, at an upset price of 5s per acre. — It was also resolved that lots 215, 21(i, 217, and 21S, and lot 453 (about si\ acre*, near the .school), Hamilton West, be put »p to auction for a .similar term, at an upset price of 7« fid per acre. Commonage kok Bouoit.h Cutle.— On the motion of Mr Edgecumbp, seconded by Mr Barton, it was lesolved that the following blocks of land be set apait and fenced for commonage purposes : — That block »f hind near the cemetery, Hamilton West, containing about 35 acres, and tint bloc*, Hamilton Kant, between Macfarlen-street and the river, containing about oO acres. It was resolved that lots 1!) and 20, Hamilton West, at present let, nhould on the expiration of the term in August, be included in the common. —On the motion of Mr. Scott, it was resolved th-it alternative tenders be invited for a pnriri or totara- post and wire fence for the forpgoing blocks af laud, tenders to be in by 2nd August. Thk Lakh Return f. —The report of the committee appointed to carry out improvement-) on this reserve was received and adopted. Sydney Squauk. — T'le recreation committee were einpovveied to get a drive half-a-chain wide formed within and around the Square. Railway Reserves. —The secretary was instructed to write to the member for Waipa asking him to use his best endeavours to get the lands formerly reserved but now not requiied for railway purposes handed over to the board, the land being part of the original town belt. Several accounts were passed for payment, and the board rose.
