|BT TKLKQRAPH— OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 The Devonport Shooting Case Auckland, Tuesday Night. At the police court to-day Michael Lunny again appeared charged with the attempted murder of his wife and. another at Devonport. The cross-examination was directed to proving improper relations between the prosecutrix and George McUuire, but she positively denied that any such relation* had ever existed. The prisoner, who reserved hi>) defence, was committed for trial. Arrival of the Aorangi. The steamship Aorangi, from London, Arrived this afternoon. The Crew of the Petrel. Capt. Webb, Acting- American Consul, has given instructions that every man belonging to the whaleship Petrel who is unwilling to proceed to sea in the barque, [fchall re ceive a month's pay nnd his discharge at this port. All the crew, witli the exception ot Jockitn, a Portuguese, have decided to take the advantage of this opportunity to leave the vessel and some of them have already made up their minds to proceed to Kimberley.
