Mr O'Calhighan strongly protested on the grounds that the inh.ibit.mts did not want a change, and after some argument the amendment was lejected on the voices, and Sir H. Stout's motion currud by 40 to 30. Mr Ivesa moved to omit town districts from county jurisdiction, and this being lost Mr O'Connor proposed toinclose borough* in counties, which was also negatived. Clause IGB, separate accounttobekeptfor a riding comprising road and. town dUtricts, was struck out on the motion of the Premier. Clause 275, Council may contribute out of the county fund for -chool buildings. Several speakers objected to giving the Councils this power. Sir R. Stout pointod out that v the clause was m tlie original Act and also the^Muncipal Coper.ition Act. The clause was siurck out on the voices. (Left Sitting).
