Nklsox, Tuesday. Thr Licensed Vituallers' Association, at a special meeting, expressed sympathy for Mr Mcßne in his losses from the eruptUm, and admiration for tlie bravery he displayed. A resolution was passed urging the insurance company to reconsider their decision in his case, and pointing out that Mr Mcßae twice saved the house? from destruction from fire on the eventful night, whereas he might have obtained the insurance by letting the house burn. Copies of the resolution were forwarded t<> the company, and t<» the Licensed Victuallers' Association in the colony.
Chkistcmuuch, Tuesday. The committee of St. John's Ambulance Association, at a meeting ton afternoon, decided to present a cross to Mr McKue, of Wairoa, in recognition of his gallantry during the late volcanic eruption in the Hot Springs district.
