HOKITIKA, Tueeday. The hot springs at Big Wanganui river, 45 miles south of here, have risen to boiling point, and greatly increased in number. James Trice, harbourmaster and signal* man, who has held the latter office here for 20 years, died suddenly to-day.
CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Two charges of indecently assaulting female pupils have been laid against Mr C- Ricliaids, headmaster of the Hutt School. GLSBORNE. Tuesday. The charge of muider against William Rowland was commenced yesterday. The jury were locked up all night, and were unable to agree on a verdict. They were therefore discharged. The second heaiing of the charge commences oa Thursday.
