LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. BY TELEGRAPH — OWN CORRESPONDENT.

Fires in Auckland. Auckland, Monday Night. Nine fires have occurred in six days. A ten-roomed house belonging to Mr McFaddan, has been burnt at Wainui. It was insured for £900 in the Royal.

The Barrier Murder. A rumour circulated in town to-day that the Glenelg, which arrived in port at noon, had reported the Sovereign of the Sea on hert back at Wbangarei is incorrect. Supt. Thompson has wired to the following places full descriptions of the alleged murderers, and also the cutter : — Napier. Wellington, Christchurch, Oamaru, Timaru, Dunedin, Invercargill, Hokitika, Nelson, New Plymouth, and Sydney ; h* hat* alto written to L^vuku, Suva, Samoa, Honolulu, and Valparaiso. Wreck at Wanganui. The Collector of Customs at Wanganui reports that the schooner Pelican ,laden with timber has been washed ashore on the Waitotara beach, bottom upwards.
