FOOTBALL.

Hamilton East v Hamilton West This was as usual the fattest and most hotly contested match of the season. . If Hamilton men would only play up againit foreigners as they do against their own kith and kin, the binoriverine capital of tjie Waikato would be at the head of the tree in the manly game. As neither side scored it would be invidious to say which had the best of it, though public opinion veered eastward., For the West, Odium, Mclrityre^ jMayes, Jones, and Guird, moref particularly the latter, were all there. McSweeney was, however, a long way the best player on the ground and for his side, the East, both McKenzies, Hinton and Windsor woiked well. We are also glad to notice that that consistent hard-worker, Bindan, played excellently, collaring well, and making one of the most brilliant passes we have ween. If Steele and Stevens improve as they have done of late, they will be valuable acquisitions to any Hamilton team. The weak point is still the throwing in from touch and the passing. Mr 0. Beale was a most efficient umpire, and tho g.une wa* played throughout with tho utmost good feeling, but slightly too much gas.
