DUNEDIN, Saturday. At the District Court Mr Wardell has ruled that companies cannot make a bill of exchange. Mr S.T. Goodman, one of the oldest officers in the City Corporation, died yesterday after a short illness.' The Mutual Agency Company have gone into liquidation. There is great discontent at the action of the Government Insurance Association in closing the industrial branch. ', . INVERCARGILL, Saturday. , Taffer's sawmill at Rimu, near Invercargill, has beep burned down. Insurances : New Zealand, £1225;, Colonial, £300, half .reinsured j Royal, £250. Sunday. The meeting., of the, policy holders in, the Government Assurance Association, called for Friday,, was adjourned to last, night. The object' of meeting was to give an expression of opinion on three sets of proposals put forth by the members of the Central Board. Thirty policy holders were present. After a motion, "That the association revert back to the direct Government control," had been moved and seconded and spoken to, it was resolved to adjourn to a more suitable evening, tradespeople being unable to be present.
