FA TAL ACCIDENT AT WAIORONGOMAI.
A DREADFUL fatal accident occurred at Fergusons battery, op the , Waiorongpmai Creek, near T,e Aroha, ' oA .Saturday, the i victim being 'Mr Thomas Robinson, one of the staff employed in erecting the new buildings. The battery is situated on the side of a steep hill, and th« deceased 1 with others ''was engaged in taking* timber fend plant up from the track below. From some cause or other a piece of balk timber slipped and felli crushing deceased, who was killed ; instantaneously, without having uttorejr&i , cry. One of his companions ran down to t ask Robitisoh if he was hurt, and was horrified to find him quite dead. An inquest ' was held yesterday, but owing to the qoli1 day we have not received any particulars. Deceased was a native of Howick, where , his father resides. He wan a cousin of Mr ,Geo. Whjte, butcher, Hamilton East j He was a member of Masonic Lodge Beta, Hamilton, having joined only about three months ago, and was greatly esteemed by | the brethren. We understand that tho remains will be taken to Howick by this ; day's train for interment at that pjace.
