HORSE COMPETITION AT CAMBRIDGE.
Thr competition for the three prizes offered by Mr .Tared Alhvill for tbe Lest yearling* by Bonnie Prince and Feve took place on Wednesday last on Mr J. R. S. Richnrdson's farm. There were ten entries for the Bonnie Prince prize of ten guineas, and the tome number for the two Feve prizes of five guineas each for the best saddle and harness horses. The competitors for the first prize of ten guineas were Mr Caley's b f, Mi Fergusons b c, Mr Butler's b f, Mr S. Graham's bf, and Mr Smith's bf. After due inspection the judges gave the award an follows :— Mr Fergusons colt first placo ; Mr Caley's filly second plnce, and Mr Smith's filly third place. For the Feve prizes the* following competed :— Mr Suttor's b c, Mr Hannon's b c, Mr J. R. S. Richardson's eh c, Mr McCall's b f, Mr Mr Fisher's two fillies, and Mr Clarks c. Through some misunderstanding the judges gave first place to Mr Fisher's filly * for both harness and saddle competition. r Mr, Allwill, however, pointed out that it was not intended one hor<«e was to take both prizes, on which Mr Fisher relinquished any claim he might make for both awards, although it was the general opinion he had fairly gained them. The decision was' as follows:— For saddle horses, Mr Fisher's filly fiwt, Mr J. R. S. Richardson's eh o second, and Mr Hnnnon's b c third. For harness horses, Mr J. R. S. Richardson's eh c first, Mr Hannon'n b c second. The judges were Mows J. McNicol. Noble •"and N. Hunt. All the young stock that contested were much admired and were considered fine specimens of horse-flosh. and a credit both to their sires and the district.
