JUVENILE BURGLARY AT CAMBRIDGE.
For some time past several petty depredations have taken place in people's back yards and gardens, and though tho police suspected who the offenders were, they could never lay their hands on them. When Mr Dyer wont to his office yestorday morninp, signs of disorder were observed, and books, papers and inkstand:) had been overturned, about four .shillings worth of pontage .stamps had been takett nut of * letter box, but se\eral pounds worth of postal notes were left untouched. From a back room sonic tobacco and cig"\r boxei and one or two other articles had bcem taken. The prints of diity little feet on a chair near a back window showed the manner of iugress of the young rascal*. Mr Dyer gave information to the police, and while Constable Brcman was talking te that gentleman outside his office a small boy named Devitt, aboHt 10 years of age, came out of a Bide passage with a bag on his back, and on being a«kcd what he had there he Mid "flower^." Constable Brennan thought he would like to ha\e a look at them, especially as he had had his eye upon this boy for cotno time. The youngster bolted, and the bag bring opened, was found t° contain the plunder. When caught, the boy siid another lad named Dean had entered the premises during Sunday night. He appealed to the constable " not to Rend him to the training ship ; he would prefer seven days in the Cambridge lock-up." Both boys wore lodged in tho gaol, and will be brought buforc the bench to day for examination. Mr Bond also found that an entry had been inado into his piemises at the same time, as a back" window appeared to have been r.i'sed and the bolt of the front door of hia shop was unfastened. He had not missed any property, however, although he had left his ca>h-box in the back room. Th« buys have had a good character in the place.
