A GHASTLY RUMOUR.

Tiik following story has been freely circulated in Newry and neighbourhood within the pa^t few days: — A certain rev. gentleman, residing not many miles from town, dreamt, 'when deep sleep fallcth upon men,' that his church woe being pillaucd, and on the following night lie 'dreamt it again.' He aroae*^ dressed, and. having armed himself with a stick and revolver, proceeded to make an examination of the groundi. On entering the churchyard, he wu astonished at finding a man engaged digging a grave. The nocturnal digger made off on being disturbed, leaving his coat behind him. The clergyman did not attempt to follow, but proceeded to pick up the garment, when, to his horror, he found lying close by an open razor. Returning towards the manse, the rev. gentleman heard footsteps approaching, and looking round he saw a young girl at his shoulder. On inquiring her business there at such an untimely hour, the stated that she came to meet her lover, with whom she was going to elope. Tho miuister showed her the open grave and razor, und gnve a description of a peraon ho had lately seen, w hereupon the girl became greatly agttatcd, and said he waa the man with whom she was about to go away.
