Upstairs Bars. Auckland, Monday Night. Mr Smith, Resident Magistrate, gave judgment in the cue of public-houM bars. He ruled that to constitute a bar within the meaning of the Act, the place of sale must open on the street. Licensees were entitled to sell in any part of the house, and no charge could be made for upstairs bars.
The Census. It is expected that the census of Auckland city and suburbs will show a population of between fifty and sixty thousand.
Licensing Matters. The Auckland South Committee have granted a transfer of the Rob Roy liceme. Arrival of the Rimutaka. The Rimutaka has arrived from London, via South.
