THE WRECK OF THE TAIAROA. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Blenheim, Monday.
Among the things washed ashore from the wreck of the Taiaroa recently was the thigh-bone of a man probably about sft. lOin. high. Close by was found part of a uniform with sailor s buttons, apparently belonging to the steward. Mr Vallance r 8 portmanteau has been washed ashore, and contained nothing but a totalisator ticket and three collars. It has probably been opened, emptied, and theu .strapped round again. The wreck is breaking up fast, and the beach is strewn with spars and gear, ai well at tweeds, drens stuff, and other portions of the cargo. The seventh and last mail bag was picked up on the beach and brought to Blenheim. The letters are pulpy, and are hardly decipherable in some cases. One registered letter contained nothing but a pound note in good condition.
