Tuesday being the day fixed for the election of the school committee for the ensuing year a meeting of the householder! was held in the schoolhouse at 8 p.m. to appoint new member-'. There was a sjood attendance, and a healthy interest Wdß taken in the proceedings. The report of the chairman of the retiring committee wai read and unanimously adopted, and the treasurer's balance-sheet showed a small amount in hand. Reference wait made to the neccraity for continuing; to enforce tho compulsory clauses of tho Education Act, and it was uninimmisly resolved that the meeting recommend to the committee to be elected the stringent enforcement of these clauses. Ten candidates were nominated for the committee, and on the ballot being taken the following were declared to be duly elected :— Messrs .T. L. Chalmers, ' C. Ahier, J. Laverv, G. Wilson, J. A. Dobson, J. Ilott and J. P. Vause. At the close of the meeting the new members met to elect a chairman, and Mr J. P. Vauae w.-mi appointed to fill that office. Mr G. Wilson consented to act as secretary. The first Tuesday of the month at 8 p.m. was the day and hour fixed for the meeting* of committee.
