Cambridge East.
The annual meeting of householders for the election of the Cambridge E.wt School Committee was held on Tuesday evening, Mr Hough ton occupying the chair. Mr Sargpnt, chairman of the moribund committee, submitted a report on the state of tho High and Distiict schools during the past year, with a statement of accounts showing the recciptH tv have been £2(> 14s MM and the expenditure £12 1» lOd, leaving a balance in hand of £14 13s. The report was unanimously adopted. The following gentlemen were balloted for as members <if the new committee, and received the votes attached to their respective names :— Mensru. Riahworth, 41 ; Ruxsell, 17 ; Sargent, 15 ; Thompson, 15 ; tfoughton, 10; Hrwitt, 9 ; Webber, 5) ; Richardson. G ; Dickson, 4. The first seven were declared elected. On the motion of Mr "Wells a vote thanks was accorded to the retiring committee. Mr Sargent was again elected chairman for the ensuing year.
