Hamilton East.
The annual meeting <if householders was held in the school at 8 p.m., on Tuesday. There was a fur attendance, and the chair was occupied by Mr W. N. Scjrancke, who opened the pioceediii^ by reeling the ad\ortiscmeut, calling the meeting and explaining the mode of procedure laid down. Accounts, &c— The Secretary of the outgomg committee raid the lulance-shet't, from which it appeared that the income had been £48 19* 7d, and the expenditure £40 12s. The outgoing chairman, Mr 1 . Uaudin, gave a short resume of the progress made by the school during his teim of office. He was plea«cd to Hay that the school was in a moot satisfactory state. Referring to the High School, he said they were under a great obligation to the west committee for the interest that budy had taken in the institution, which he regretted to aay would probably bo closed. Election ok Committee.— Nine householders were nominated as members of committee and a ballot was> taken with the following result : — W. N. Sf arancke, 35); T. C. Hammond, 35; F. J. Yon Stunner, 24 ; F. Gaudin, 20 ; W. Dey, 19 ; P. Le (JiiMne, 19 ; C. Tippen, 15 ; W. F. Hell, 8; Philip, 3. The first seven were therefore declared duly electod. The usual vote of thanks to the retiiiug committee concluded the meeting. At a meeting of thn committee held subsequently, Mr Searancke was elected chairman.
