The small arm ammunition which the Agent-General has sent out to the colony is for Martini -Henry rifles, and there fore quite useless for the weapons in uae in the colony. A whole shipment has been sent to the Victorian Government at a price said to be slightly in advance of cost price. The Imperial Government have made a present to the colony of eight converted 04 pounders, received from Home some time ago. The balance-sheet of the Wellington Shipping Company recommends the payment of a dividend of 5 per cent. The Taiaroa disaster was specially alluded to in the services at the local churches yesterday. A quantity of passengers' luggage has been saved from the wreck of the Taiaroa, and brought here. The Taiaroa's cargo was auctioned to-day, and sold to Messrs Watson and Ramkin, of Blenheim for £30. The body of a man named Joseph Young was found below high-water mark tlm morning. He had been drinking heavily of late. Those who voted agninst the resolution for handing over the control of the Go\emment Insurance Association to the Go\ eminent were Sir Julius Vojfol (the chairman), G. S. Graham (elected member), and G. Y. Shannon (nominated member).
