EXECUTION IN FRANCE.
A man named Jeton, sentenced to death for murder, was executed at Caen on Ist February, before a crowd of over 2000 spectators. He listened respectfully to the service of thn mass, and professed repentance. He declared when on the scaffold that drink had been the cause of his ruin. M. 6r6vy signed Jeton 's death warrant with much reluctance, and became of the peculiar gravity of the crime. The executioner, whose office has long been a sinecure, was awkward, and showed great nervousness. No galvanic or other scientific experiments were performed on the body, which was given over to the family and quietly buried.
