THE LATEST. Kekerangu, Wednesday Night.
The Taiaroa is settling down in the shingle. The list to seaward has increased so much that the deck in flmh with the water, and the waves are washing over her in all states of the tide. The steamer is -under the charge of Mr J. Nancarrow, who was placed there by Capt. Bendall. No other mail bags have been recovered, but they are possibly under the cargo, -which is all on one side of the vessel. A further search is to be made to-day. The Coroner opens the inquest this afternoon. The evidence of the passengers Grant and McQunrter will be taken. The third survivor, Hutton, left for Wellington in Wakatu U«t night. Mr Gerald FitzGarald, of Blenheim, searched the beach to-day for the body of his aunt, but was unsuccessful. No other bodiot have coma ashore, and no more wreckage except a bundle of about twenty Ufa bells. The Rev. Mr Graoe arrived with the coroner today. The funerals here and at Wondbank will ba c inducted by the Rev. Messrs Grace and Maoara.
