POLICE COURT, TE AWAMUTU.
Monday.— (Before Messrs Bockett and Rutherford, J.P.) Larceny of Beer. Chables Connkll was charged on the in formation of Charles Innes with having on the 7th inst., stolen the sum of five shillings and a quantity of beer of the value of ten shillings. Accused pleaded guilty. Constable Ryan said the prisoner was unknown to the police here, and as far as he knew this was his first offence. The accused expressed regret at being in such a position, and said be was drunk and knew nothing of the act. Fined forty shillings, the value of the beer, ten shillings, the cash, five shillings, and costs, seven shillings, in default one mouth. Prisoner said he had no money, and asked for time. He was going to get work and would pay the money when he earned it. A month was allowed in which to pay the fine.
