Adelaide, April 1. The quarterly returns published today give the total revenue for last quarter a*s £448,800, being a decrease of £213,000 compared with the corresponding period of last year. The railway revenue for the quarter shows a, falling off of £50,000. It is considered inevitable that there will be a large deficiency, on the financial year.
Melboukxe, April 1. The quarterly revenue returns published to-day show the total revenue for the last three months to have been £1,780,000, an increase on the corresponding quarter of last year of -.£102,000. Customs and railway revenue show an increase of £52,000 and £38,000 respectively, while land revenue has decreased £41,000.
> - Sydney, April 1. The deficiency due by Mr Holt to the Bank of New Zealand is stated to be about eleven thousand pounds, which is covered by his private estate. His total liabilities are estimated at thirty-five thousand pounds. It is intended by the bank to commence a prosecution against him. His whereabouts are believed to be known.
Hobart, April 1. The Union Company's s.s. Ringarooma, which arrived from the Bluft* reports having encountered very severe weather on the voyage. Four cattle on board died. A passenger named Marsden, who came fr'Sm Wellington, slipped from the gangway, and, falling overboard, was drowned.
