AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS.

Mr Alfred Bdckland's Weekly Report. — At the Haymarket on Friday last, March 26, fodder was in moderate supply only, and fully maintained previous week s values. Chatf brought 3s 9d to 4s 4d the 'cwt, oats 2s 5d to 2s 7d, maize 3s 5d the bushel. Horse stock of a useful class (active medium draught) were in larger number than usual. Prices ranged from £12 to £18 each. At the timber sale on Baird'a wharf on Saturday, there was a numerous attendance. Prices were more even than on the previous sale, and ranged from 4» 3d to 6s 3d the 100 feet. Hides nnd skin% on Tuesday, were in usual number. Hides in demand at full value". Best quality sold from 4}d to ssd ; calfskins, 4d the lb ; pelts, from 2d to 14d each ; wool, sjjd to tiid the lb. At the regular cattle sale, held at Papakura on Wednesday, cattle were yarded in lirger number th«n usual, and prices were fully sustained. The grown steers advertised brought from £3 10-t to £5 oh each. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cattle were dull of sale, store cattle at late values. Fat cattle in full numbers, dull of hale, and ranged from Ids to 18s the lOOlbs. Fat calves : Plentiful, but maintained their price. Sheep : In average supply, store ewes ranged from (is to 7s 3d, fat wpthers from 11s to 14s, fat ewes B.s (5d to 11s each. Lambs : Lower than last week, but at good relative values ; fat lambs brought from 7s to 8s (id ; store lambs from 3s to (Is each. Pigs : Both fat and store were in steady demand at last week's values Messrs. HuxrEji and Nolan'B Weekly Retort, — Hors>eu : The market has scarcely been so active as on the previous week, but there were no material alterations in value. At the Durham Yard, on Friday, a more than average number were submitted by auction, and nearly all found purchasers, bnt being principally local there was no keen competition, but the previous week's values were pretty well maintained throughout the sale. Wool, hides, and skins : No heavy hides were pitched. Medium brought 3£d per lb, skins from lid to Is sd, tallow £11 15s per ton. Cattle : The supply has been an average on^, and the demand steady, with no alteration in value. At the Newmarket Yards, on Tuesday, all the pens were occupied. Not quite so many fat beasts were disposed of as on the previous week, but store and dairy stock were well competed for. We quote dairy cows at from £5 to £8 10s, calves at from 14a to 31s, grown steers from £3 10s to £4 15s, beef 18d to 20s per lOOlbs. Sheep : An adequate number of butchers' sheep were yarded on Tuesday at Newmarket, and stores were in excess of requirements. Store ewes sold at from 5s to 8s Gd, fat wethers 9s (id to 13s, lambs 7s 6d to 9s 6d. Pigs : A limited number were yarded, and for good porkers 3Jd per lb, live weight, was given. Messrs G. W. Binney and Co. report : At our weekly sale of produce, hides fully maintained lato quotations. Our catalogue was small, no really first-class hides being included. We quote : First-class heavies dry salted 4^d to 4gd, heavy wet salted 4d to 4£d, mediums 3£d to 3^d, kips 3£d to 4d, calfskins 4jd per lb, damaged and cut dull of sale. Sheepskins : Butchers' skins brought up to Is 7d each. Tallow : Dull of sale, with a downward tendency. Oats : We sold a parcel of 421 bags, ex ship, at 2s 4d per bushel net cash.
