THE CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD AND THE NEW TIMETABLE.
The following reply has been received by the Cambridge Town Board from the MiniKter for Public Works with reference to the new time-table :—: — " Wellington, 2Gth March, 1886. " Sir, — With reference to your letter of 13th inst, conveying copy of a communication to the General Manager of Railways regarding the amended time-table between Auckland and Cambridge, I have the honour lo inform you— the line having been extended to Oxford— the tourist traffic has been diverted from Cambridge, and it is not considered that the running of a second train daily to the latter township would have been warranted by the existing traffic any more than the running ot two trains daily would at present be justified to Te Awatnutu and Te Aroha, both of which townships I beg to point out are similarly situated with respect to their train service, only one through train being run daily. I regret I do not therefore see my way to make any alteration in the direction you desire at present.— l have, etc., " Edward Richardson, 11 Minister for Public Works."
