PROFESSOR HUGO.
Professor Hcgo, physiognomist, gave the first of his interesting lectures at LeQuesne's Hall last night. Owing to the threatening aspect of the weather tho attendance was not as good as was expected, but those present enjoyed an intellectual treat of no ordinary kind. We cannot follow the professor in the limited space at our command, but we may say briefly that his delineation and analysis of character from the contour, size and shape, of the face, were remarkably clear and rational. Mr Hugo is an artist of exceptional ability as well, and both in the lung series of admirably coloured cartoon*, with which he illm trated the first part of the lecture, and in his sketches in chalk on the blackboard, his skill in his direction was fully exemplified. The professor will give a second lecture in the same hall tomorrow night on "Lip* an<l noses," and we anticipate a full bmise. We can heartily recommend the entertainment to old and young. During his stay in Hamilton, Mr Hugo is prepared to furnish charts of character at prices varying from 4s fid to one guinea.
